How do the IntelliGuard® Intelligent Inventory Solutions work?

The IntelliGuard® Intelligent Inventory Solutions process begins by placing a small RFID tag onto medication packages. The RFID tag consists of an antenna and a chip that contains a unique identifier.

Using the IntelliGuard® RFID-enabled workstation (scanner/reader), product information/data such as manufacturer, medication name, NDC number, lot number and expiration date is associated with the unique identifier and placed into a relational database.

Once the product information/data is placed into the relational database, the data is utilized throughout the application. The pharmacy is outfitted with IntelliGuard® Inventory Solutions’ hardware (kit and tray management workstations and/or inventory management controlled temperature cabinets). The IntelliGuard® System(s) is used to read the RFID tags of all product inventory. All inventory is counted simultaneously (this can take as little as 3-7 seconds).

In the IntelliGuard® Kit and Tray Management System, any missing, expired or soon-to-expire medications are identified so replenishment can happen quickly and accurately. Alerts are programmed to support optimized workflow processes.

The IntelliGuard® Smart Cabinet and Linked Visibility Inventory Systems™, update inventory each time the cabinet door or Station drawer is closed. Perpetual inventory counts are maintained, and forward notifications of soon-to-expire medications are enabled.

For all IntelliGuard® Intelligent Inventory Solutions, data is made available via a robust reporting suite to enable confident, informed decision making.
